Thousands of aid pallets for Gaza remain unallocated as organizations highlight the crisis

Israel is urging international bodies and the United Nations to address what it describes as a prolonged humanitarian crisis in Gaza, despite there being numerous aid supplies on the ground. They claim that thousands of pallets of humanitarian aid are just waiting at different points for NGOs and the UN to distribute them. Instead of merely stating the need for more aid or waiting for the situation to improve, Israel emphasizes that they are actively coordinating to facilitate these efforts.

In a statement responding to Fox News’ inquiries, Eri Kaneko, a spokesperson for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), highlighted the challenges posed by Gaza’s restrictive operational environment. He mentioned that effective humanitarian operations hinge on sufficient security and unhindered access.

Meanwhile, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has voiced support for Israel’s critique of the UN’s management of aid to Gaza. They indicated that no obstacles have been imposed by GHF regarding UN operations. Instead, they argue that logistical executions by the UN are flawed, resulting in many aid distribution points remaining empty due to interference and diversion by various groups within Gaza.

Just recently, Tom Fletcher, the UN’s Humanitarian Conditions and Emergency Relief Coordinator, stated that fuel shortages in Gaza had reached a critical point. This week marked the first delivery of a small amount of fuel in 130 days, which, while welcome, still falls far short of what is needed for daily life and relief operations.

In response, Cogat pushed back against Fletcher’s comments, asserting that fuel has been flowing into Gaza for the past week and urged him to refrain from spreading misinformation.

Despite the GHF being backed by the US and Israel, it faces significant scrutiny from the global community, all while successfully distributing over 76 million meals across the region. John Acley, GHF’s Interim Executive Director, applauded the dedication of their aid workers operating under immensely challenging conditions.
