Three Advisors from the U.S. State Department Shot at a Taco Stand in Mexico

Targeted Attack in Tlaquepaque

In a concerning incident, Mexican officials are looking into a targeted attack that left two men dead and one seriously injured. These individuals provided training to local police and served as advisors to various U.S. agencies, including the State Department.

The attack unfolded Friday evening in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, where a group of gunmen opened fire on three men enjoying tacos.

The Jalisco Attorney General’s Office confirmed to sources that the deceased were identified as Carlos Amador Chavera and Cesar Gustabogzman Gonzalez, while the seriously injured man was recognized as Pablo Cazi Gardel Angel. The three had just completed a series of training courses for Jalisco State Police and had gathered afterward to dine at a local restaurant before the shooting occurred.

Reports indicate that both Chavera and Cajigal were working as advisors for the U.S. Department of State’s International Drug and Law Enforcement Agency, while Guzman had ties with Interpol and several other agencies, including the Mexican Attorney General’s Office.

So far, the motive behind this targeted assault has not been disclosed. Notably, the area where this occurred is known to be controlled by the Cartel Jalisco New Generation, a group classified as a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department.

Earlier in the week, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that they had filed terrorism charges against a woman believed to be a leading figure within the CJNG.
