Three California police officers, one civilian hospitalized after multi-vehicle crash

At least three police officers and one civilian have been hospitalized after a multi-vehicle crash in Oakland, California, according to reports.

Two patrol cars belonging to the Bay Area Rapid Transit Police Department responded to a three-vehicle crash that occurred near the West Oakland Station near Seventh Street and Mandela Parkway at 2:45 p.m. local time on Saturday. It was a department. KTVU report.

“Several vehicle occupants were injured during the collision,” an OPD spokesperson said. “Paramedics rushed to the scene to assist and transported the patients to area hospitals for treatment.”

“It is unclear whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision,” the statement added, the paper reported.

The other vehicle involved in the accident with two police vehicles was a medical supply van.

Witnesses said they saw police vehicles traveling at high speed without slowing down in the moments leading up to the shocking crash, KTVU reported.

One witness said the police car was moving “incredibly fast” before the accident.

Photos from the scene show a complete police SUV with a broken hood, broken windows, deployed airbags and bent doors.

All four injured people were taken to area hospitals and remain in unknown condition, according to KTVU.
