Last week, a collaboration involving ICE, local police, and the FBI resulted in the arrest of three alleged MS-13 members in Nassau County, who are facing serious criminal charges, including 14 counts of attempted murder and 49 counts of assault, as reported by the Post.
Two of these individuals admitted to entering the U.S. illegally during the Biden administration, confirmed by Nassau County executive Bruce Blakeman.
In a statement, Blakeman emphasized the significance of this operation, saying, “Through the joint efforts of Nassau County Police and ICE, we’ve apprehended three dangerous gang members accused of murder and other grave offenses. This enhances the safety of our communities.”
One of the suspects, Jeffrey Bradimir Valadales Arcaga, a 20-year-old from Honduras, faced numerous charges, including illegal firearm possession, driving without a license, and other vehicle-related offenses.
“We will continue to ensure that our county remains one of the safest in America by collaborating with both federal and local partners,” he added.
Sources indicated that ICE has initiated immigration detention procedures for all three gang members.
The arrested migrants, who are not older than 21, face shared allegations of attempted murder and assault.
Notably, two of the gang members illegally entered the U.S. during the current administration.
Departing from the Sanctuary City policies of New York, Nassau County has committed to cooperating with ICE to remove violent criminal immigrants from the streets.
Since February, Nassau County has partnered with federal authorities to detain over 1,400 illegal immigrants, with special provisions made for those awaiting deportation, according to Blakeman’s earlier announcements.
Elias Wilfredo Serrano Bonilla, also 21, was charged with attempted murder and multiple assaults, among other serious crimes. Sources reveal he entered the U.S. illegally before December 2016.
During a previous arrest, police had charged him with first-degree assault linked to gang activity.
Further charges arose during the recent operation, increasing his total allegations significantly.
Another suspect, 19-year-old Edras Daniel Velazquez Giron, also an illegal migrant from Honduras, previously entered the U.S. by June 2022. He faced numerous charges including attempted murder and other assaults during the latest operation.
His immigration status has been contested in court, with a recent ruling ordering his deportation back to Honduras.
Lastly, Valadales Arcaga was apprehended for illegal firearm possession and unlicensed driving, without facing any direct attempted murder charges.
Overall, joint efforts between federal and local officials have removed over 1,600 criminal immigrants from Long Island streets, according to an ICE spokesperson.
