Tiger Woods will make his first start of 2024 this week at the Genesis Invitational.
With former looper Joe LaCava taking over Patrick Cantlay’s bag for good, they had to figure out who would caddy for him while he played.
Yeah, Woods will be. veteran caddy Lance Bennett at Riviera this week, according to Golfweek.
Bennett is best known for being on Matt Kuchar’s bag, helping him win the Players Championship in 2012.
A longtime looper, he has also performed with Sungjae Im, Davis Riley, Julie Inkster, Paula Creamer, and Lorena Ochoa. He currently caddies for PGA Tour rookie Adrian Dumont de Chassard, who played collegiately at the University of Illinois. He won twice on the Korn Ferry Tour last year and won Player of the Year.
Dumont de Chassard is under the same management as Woods, which explains why the Big Cats chose Bennett. It was easy for Bennett to get the job with Woods, as the rookie was unable to pitch at Riviera this week.
Does Bennett have a chance to win 15 majors, not just this week? Details are unclear, but some believe that Tiger could work with several different loopers.

Woods had to make do with the Hero World Challenge and PNC Championship. His longtime business partner and TGR Ventures Vice President Rob McNamara caddied for him in the Bahamas.
His daughter Sam was on the bag for the PNC Championship.
He also didn’t rule out the idea that his son Charlie might receive the bag in the future.
This week marks the start of Woods’ first PGA Tour-sanctioned event since last year’s Masters Championship. In December, Woods hinted he might play once a month in 2024, but it all depends on his health and how his feet feel.
