TikTok Influencer Arrested While Reporting on ICE Activities
A TikTok influencer has been streaming her encounters with ICE agents in Los Angeles, even broadcasting her own arrests amidst claims that she was illegally in the country.
Tatiana Martinez, a 24-year-old from Colombia, was inside her car on August 15 while parked in a downtown apartment area.
Her attorney, Carlos Jurado, stated that she aims to highlight ICE operations, leveraging her significant social media following of over 47,000 users.
“She didn’t step out because there were masked individuals claiming to have a warrant. She asked them to ‘Show me the warrant,’ but they didn’t provide anything,” Jurado explained.
He also mentioned, “I believe she was targeted for filming ICE activities—this is what she conveyed to me.”
Contrarily, an informant from law enforcement informed the Post that Martinez had crossed the border unlawfully in 2022 and had been released shortly thereafter.
She subsequently faced a DUI charge, leading to her arrest by ICE, the agency stated.
According to ICE, “The influencer drove under the influence and was convicted in Los Angeles.”
Sources indicated that Martinez suffered injuries during her arrest and was later hospitalized.
Jurado mentioned that she was taken to a federal detention center in Calexico, located near the Mexico border. “I drove about three and a half hours to visit her, and she seemed really pleased to see someone,” he remarked.
He added, “From what I’ve observed, there are still bruises visible on her body following the arrest.”
