Tim Tebow’s Father Passes Away at 78

Tim Tebow has shared the news that his father, Bob Tebow, has passed away at the age of 78.

In his announcement, Tebow acknowledged his father’s long struggle with Parkinson’s disease, which he had openly discussed since November 2016. However, he did not specify the cause of death in a heartfelt Instagram post that also showcased family moments.

“Last night, my father was welcomed home and heaven welcomed a hero of the faith!” Tebow expressed in his post. “Many might feel sorrow for your loss, but he’s not missing; we know exactly where he is. He is at home. Forever!”

He reminisced about asking his father, just last week, what he was most looking forward to in heaven. Bob simply responded, “Yes.”

Tebow continued, “He couldn’t wait to meet Jesus. Praise God that his wait is over. Death has been swallowed up in victory. He is now healed and whole, so we will not mourn as those without hope. See you soon, Father!”

In his post, Tebow included several touching family photos, marking significant moments in their lives together.

One image depicted him pushing his father in a wheelchair during his wife Demi Lee’s wedding, which took place in January 2020. Another photo captured the moment they announced Demi’s pregnancy to her parents, Bob and Pam.

Demi, who welcomed their daughter, Daphne Reign, last July, added her own emotional tribute with a family photo on Instagram.

In her message, she reflected on Bob’s character, writing, “I have never known anyone as big, strong, tough, and as many say, character-building. He was also a kind grandpa…who loved ice cream, laughed a lot, and was generous beyond measure.”

She expressed her gratitude for the impact Bob had on her husband, recognizing him as a loving protector and a man of faith. “We know Heaven is happy to have him in his eternal home…but the emptiness is real on this side of Heaven, and it’s heavy,” she shared.

Demi concluded by thanking Bob for his extraordinary life and the influence he had on many.

After his time in the NFL, Tim Tebow transitioned to broadcasting and also played several seasons with the New York Mets. In December 2013, he joined ESPN as a college football analyst for SEC Nation.
