Former vice presidential candidate Tim Walz seemed more bothered by President Donald Trump’s remarks about his immigration policy rather than the actual policy’s effects. He quickly reacted to Trump’s description of him as “severely mentally retarded.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump called for “reverse immigration” in the wake of a tragic incident involving two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., discussing how past U.S. immigration policies have negatively impacted Americans.
“The U.S. foreign population stands at 53 million, according to the census, with many relying on welfare from distressed regions, prisons, and gangs. These individuals and their families are supported by generous American taxpayers, who typically avoid voicing complaints,” Trump remarked, pointing to the current refugee situation as a “major source of social problems.” He mentioned that this kind of dysfunction wasn’t prevalent after World War II.
Walz’s state of Minnesota served as a key example for Trump.
“Take, for instance, the large influx of refugees from Somalia who are overtaking Minnesota. Our residents find themselves trapped in their homes, hoping to be overlooked, while Somali gangs roam freely,” Trump said, directing his comments toward the Democratic governor.
“Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, in his incompetence or fear, does nothing. Meanwhile, we have Ilhan Omar, who many consider the worst legislator, wrapped in a hijab,” he continued, concluding with a vow to “permanently stop immigration from all Third World countries and terminate millions of illegal immigration cases, including those linked to Sleepy Joe Biden’s autopen,” while suggesting that anyone who isn’t contributing positively to America should be deported.

Instead of defending his policies, Walz replied simply: “Publish the MRI results.”

This was likely a dig at Trump, who had just announced undergoing an MRI scan.

One Twitter user commented, “Tim Walz asking for an MRI while crime rates in Minnesota are skyrocketing is like the Titanic’s captain asking for an iceberg inspection report.” Another user added, “That’s an embarrassing response. Clearly, some staffer rushed this tweet out during a chaotic moment.”
Trump’s suggestion for reverse immigration followed a deadly assault involving a suspect identified as Rahmanullah Rakanwar, a 29-year-old Afghan who previously collaborated with the CIA and entered the U.S. through Operation Welcome Allies after the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
On Thursday, Trump shared that one of the injured Guardsmen, Sarah Beckstrom from West Virginia, succumbed to her injuries.
