During Tuesday night's vice presidential debate, Democratic candidate Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) said he “befriended a school shooter.”
He said this in an attempt to explain why he has reversed his stance against banning “assault weapons” and now supports such bans.

Walz did not mention that the gunman who attacked Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012, stole a gun or that the gun he stole was legally purchased by the robber. .
While discussing his plan to ban “assault weapons” with Kamala Harris, Walz insisted it “doesn't violate the Second Amendment.”
