Tim Walz’s Dept. of Education Let Somali Migrant Fraudsters Steal $250 Million from Needy Kids

Democratic vice presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) failed to steer federal food assistance programs, allowing dozens of Somali immigrants to steal $250 million intended for children in need.

In September 2022, the Department of Justice indicted 47 Somali immigrants living in Minnesota for stealing $250 million from a coronavirus relief program meant to feed poor children. Only $50 million has been recovered. Recovered As of June.

Breitbart News reported in June:

The scheme involved 47 defendants who, according to prosecutors, formed an umbrella group called “Feeding Our Future” and then numerous subgroups advertising that they would deliver food to children in need during the pandemic. The defendants allegedly used fraudulent rings to apply for relief funds at mosques across Minnesota. Once they received the funds, the defendants reported feeding thousands of children each day and provided the government with lists of non-existent children to show their success.

According to prosecutors, one such fraudulent feeding center was so brazen that it copied all the names from a website called listofrandomnames.com, sent the list to federal authorities, and claimed to have fed the people on the list.

Audit by the nonpartisan Legislative Auditor General’s Office found Walz accused the department of failing to respond to warning signs known to it before the COVID-19 pandemic and before the alleged fraudulent activities began, failing to effectively exercise its authority to hold Feeding Our Future accountable for program requirements, and being inadequately prepared to respond to the problems it encountered with Feeding Our Future, the lawsuit said.

Associated Press (AP) report:

Five of the first seven defendants to go on trial are He was found guilty on Friday. This trial, Someone tried to bribe the jury. The night before the case was to go to a jury, he had a bag containing $120,000 in cash, and authorities are still trying to determine the source of the money.

The North Star State Republican Caucus said in June that Walz was to blame.

“This is astonishing. The Department of Education and Governor Walz have repeatedly tried to tell the American people they did everything they could, but this report clearly shows that was a misrepresentation,” said Minnesota Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson, a Republican.

Walz argues that a 2021 court order means he has to resume payments hand and foot despite his concerns, but the judge disagrees.
