A TJ Maxx security guard was stabbed in the face when he tried to stop a group of female robbers from leaving a store in Brooklyn, police said.
Police said the three thieves allegedly snatched $243 worth of clothing and shoes from a shelf inside the Midwood store around 2:17 p.m. Sunday before running into the front door.
When the 33-year-old security guard caught them and tried to stop them, one of the robbers pulled out a knife and slashed him on the right side of his head, officials said.
The trio then fled the East 15th Street retail store.
The guard was taken to Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital in stable condition.
“It's crazy,” a TJ Maxx employee said, adding that shoplifting is common at the store.
“He seems like a normal person who comes here,” the employee said of the thief. “Some people often come here and steal.”
Police have released surveillance footage of a woman wanted on suspicion of assault with a knife.
None of the three women had been arrested Tuesday night.
