Trump Border Czar Responds to Cory Booker’s Comments
On Monday’s episode of “Hannity” on Fox News Channel, Tom Homan, who oversees border issues for Trump, addressed remarks made by Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) during a press event at Newark Liberty International Airport.
Booker criticized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which has a presence at many U.S. airports, claiming it is misusing its power to bolster the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) amid the government shutdown.
“What’s happening in America that should make everyone angry?” Booker asked. “He takes institutions that have infiltrated our schools, churches, hospitals, courts, and even homes, and he brings that reckless entity to the airport under the false pretense that it will somehow remedy the long lines he caused in the first place. This is outrageous.”
Homan responded by accusing Booker of dishonesty, challenging him to provide evidence for his claims.
Host Sean Hannity characterized Booker’s remarks as “a predictable meltdown.” He commented, “Temper tantrum. In response, we have Border Czar Tom Homan. Is he referencing the brave agents who arrest murderers, known terrorists, child molesters, and other violent criminals? Because frankly, I think he’s got it completely wrong.”
Homan replied, “That’s exactly what ICE is doing. They’re apprehending the most dangerous individuals and making our communities safer by removing threats from the streets. But let me point out: He’s misleading the public. When ICE goes into a church to make an arrest, can he provide even one example? Why can’t he be detained?”
“Now, I believe there’s been one instance in the last year where an illegal immigrant was pursued into an educational facility,” he continued. “That’s true. We arrested him right by the entrance. However, there’s no planning happening for such operations in these places. Furthermore, the only individuals who have breached the sanctuary of the church are Don Lemon and the group that went in to confront Trump supporters during a service. So, he is misleading the American public, which fuels the animosity toward ICE agents and, consequently, leads to more violence.” He added that an increase in false claims fosters hatred, which can escalate into violence and bloodshed.
