‘Border czar’ Tom Homan discusses major ICE arrest increase
Tom Homan, the White House border czar, appeared on ‘The Big Weekend Show’ to address the White House’s response to the ongoing investigation into Representative Ilhan Omar and to comment on anti-ICE sentiments from some far-left candidates.
Homan stated that if investigators find Rep. Omar engaged in immigration fraud, she could face denaturalization and deportation. He emphasized that no one is above the law, especially after her home was raided and her cellphone was seized. “If you lie during the naturalization process, there’s a procedure to denaturalize someone. We’ve done it before, and if the evidence suggests that could happen, then it might,” he shared during the show.
He stressed that Omar would be subject to the same legal standards as any citizen. “If she broke the law, she will face accountability,” he noted, though he refrained from discussing the specific details of the investigation.
Homan also mentioned, “A year ago, we made it clear that these allegations would be investigated, and they are indeed being looked into.” He added that he wouldn’t preempt the findings from the bureau or HSI but has been informed that the case is strong, indicating that the evidence will determine the course of action.
Omar is under scrutiny for claims that she or her father may have misrepresented her birth year on immigration documents to secure her citizenship after their family fled Somalia in the 1990s. Her father obtained U.S. citizenship in 2000, and while she was thought to be 17, it has been recently suggested that she might have been 18 at the time, meaning she would have needed to navigate the citizenship process independently.
Some Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, have criticized the investigation as a politically motivated attack against one of former President Trump’s critics, especially with an important election approaching. Federal agents conducted the raid at Omar’s home, seizing her cellphone and other items.
When asked if there might be other potential wrongdoings being investigated beyond immigration fraud, Homan indicated he wouldn’t comment on that, advising that it was an FBI matter. He mentioned, “I know a few things, but that’s really up to the FBI.”
Attempts to reach Omar’s office for a comment were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
