Tony Hinchcliffe Responds to Chelsea Handler’s Roast Remarks
On a recent episode of his podcast “Kill Tony,” Tony Hinchcliffe took aim at Chelsea Handler after she criticized his performance during “The Roast of Kevin Hart” on May 10. He pushed back against her claims that his jokes were “racist,” asserting that her facts were incorrect and suggesting she didn’t even write her own material. His set included references to George Floyd and other sensitive topics.
Hinchcliffe expressed disbelief over how reports suggested he was “lit up” by Handler, calling them amusing and emphasizing that one should watch the performance themselves instead of trusting the news. “You can’t believe anything you see or read on the news anymore,” he remarked.
He didn’t hold back his feelings, saying, “She was a bit of a cunt, I’ll tell you that!” He opened the podcast with a response to multiple jabs he received from various people during the roast, remarking, “It’s the first time I’ve been called a Nazi multiple times in just a few hours.” He hinted at the mentality of some in the LA writing scene, describing it as containing “a lot of mentally ill liberals.”
Hinchcliffe sarcastically commented on being labeled as a Nazi given the diverse company he keeps, adding, “Somehow with all these backs and Jews and Mexicans around me, I guess I’m a fucking Nazi somehow.”
He continued to rant about how he was persistently insulted, stating he was called a “Nazi, gay, a racist” repeatedly and insisted, “I’m none of those three things.”
Turning his focus back to Handler, he elaborated, “She just kept coming at me… She said I took the Saudi Arabia money – she was, like, wrong about things.” His criticism extended to Handler as he accused her of not writing her material and shared that the writers didn’t do her justice.
While recounting the roast, he mentioned an incident where a teleprompter issue offered him a chance to address Handler’s circumstances directly. It provided a backdrop for his remarks aimed at her life and choices.
During his set, he made several jokes about Hart, including a controversial comment involving race. “He got into a fistfight on a private plane, proof that no matter how much money black people have, they’re still going to act like… ninjas,” he quipped.
Hinchcliffe added a twist, saying, “You’ve done good though, Kevin. The black community is so proud of you. Right now, George Floyd is looking up at us all laughing so hard he can’t breathe.”
Handler later discussed Hinchcliffe’s jokes on her show “Funny Knowing You,” suggesting that she was aware of his and Shane Gillis’ backgrounds, labeling them as racists and bigots who think they are untouchable. However, on May 26, Hart defended Hinchcliffe, emphasizing the boundaries that roasts are intended to push.
