Ankush Khardri, who wrote the Politico article, said the call would serve as an opportunity to discuss various legal arguments and “generate and shape content for Trump-hungry consumers.”

But their views run the risk of groupthink.

“Will some of the people on the call adjust their positions as a result of the discussion? Yes, probably,” Caldori said. “That may sound sinister, but it’s also a natural result of properly functioning group discussions. People refine and clarify their positions. They find points of agreement that may surprise you. Their areas of disagreement become narrower and more precise.”

Mr. Conway, a contributor to The Atlantic, frequently reviews Mr. Trump’s case on MSNBC, along with Mr. Wiseman, who also hosts the podcast “Indicting Donald Trump.”
