Trans High School Softball Player Defeats One of the Best Female Teams in the State to Keep the Stunt Going

I’m starting to think things might never change… I really hope I’m mistaken.

Marissa Rothenberger is a transgender high school softball player. As a sophomore, he contributed to Champlin Park’s impressive streak of 14 consecutive wins leading up to the Minnesota playoffs.

The Minnesota State High School Coaches Association has awarded Rothenberger a spot on the first team All-State, making him the only junior recognized on the first team among all 4A high schools in Minnesota.

Documents referenced by a source indicate that Rothenberger’s mother filed a petition to change his birth certificate shortly after his ninth birthday. The request was approved, and Rothenberger was issued a new birth certificate stating he was born “female,” and his name was changed from “Charlie Dean” to “Marissa.”

In Minnesota, there’s no requirement for birth certificates to reflect any transition when participating. If an individual identifies as a woman, the state recognizes that as valid. This is why Rothenberger is eligible to play softball.

This season has been notable for Rothenberger, especially highlighted by a recent shutout victory against Maple Grove, a top team in Minnesota, where he allowed just one hit. Champlin won the game 2-0.

When will this all make sense?
