Gallagher also set the fastest time in the event’s qualifying heat.

Although the sophomore ran the fastest time in the 400m preliminaries, he lost in the 400m final by 0.15 seconds.

The tournament was held in Eugene, Oregon, at the same stadium where the U.S. Championships and Olympic Trials will be held.

Gallagher sparked outrage on social media Wednesday after appearing in some competition during the women’s game in the Portland Interhigh League Championship semifinals.

Gallagher placed first in the 400-meter heats with a time of 56.14 seconds, 0.23 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Gallagher finished second in the 200 meter heats with a time of 24.49 seconds, which was approximately 0.17 seconds slower than the first-place finisher.

These events earned her a spot in the state finals this weekend.

The Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) has policies regarding transgender participation in high school sports.

“OSAA strives to provide a fair and safe environment for all students while allowing them to participate in athletic and activity programs consistent with their asserted gender identity,” the policy states.

“Similar to regulation 8.2 on qualification periods/graduation periods, such regulations promote harmony and fair competition among member schools by maintaining equality of qualifications and ensure that students have the opportunity to participate in interschool activities. It increases the number.”

Additionally, OSAA rules state that “Once a transgender student notifies the school of his or her gender identity, the student may be consistently treated as that gender for athletics or activity eligibility only if the student tries out or participates.” It is stipulated that In activities, students may not join teams of different genders during the same season. ”
