A visit to Liverpool on England's Merseyside, the UK's fifth-largest city, could start to cost a little more for travelers than before as government authorities devise strategies to curb overtourism.
According to Liverpool Business News, authorities are planning to impose a tax on tourists this summer, charging nearly $3 (£2) per person per night for overnight stays.
The tax could be imposed as local residents struggle to cope with increased tourism to the area.

A press release from Liverpool's Accommodation Improvement District (BID) said: “The proposals would see hotel-controlled rates pumped directly into the visitor economy, supporting its growth and development.” .
