A surprising encounter on a plane left one woman thrilled when she found herself seated next to Travis Hunter, a dual-threat football player who was recently drafted second overall in the NFL Draft. Last week, while on a United flight, he sat beside Sandy Hawkins Combs, who was quite taken with his charming demeanor.
“I had the most amazing flight from Denver. I met a really impressive young man who helped me with my bag and tray. Everyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson—so polite,” Combs later shared on Facebook.
Interestingly, at first, she had no idea who he was. It was only after noticing the reactions of other passengers that the realization struck her.
Passengers around them offered congratulations and took pictures. That’s when she turned to Hunter, noticing his Jaguars attire, and asked, “Are you an athlete?” He responded with a smile, identifying himself as Travis and mentioning he was drafted by the Jags. “I’ve already told my sons I want his jersey,” Combs remarked.
She found him incredibly humble and down-to-earth, saying, “You wouldn’t guess he was a pro athlete. Jacksonville Jaguars, you’ve got something good here! I’ll buy a ticket.”
Hunter was selected after the Jaguars maneuvered up from the fifth spot in the draft, with the Cleveland Browns originally holding that selection before trading it away along with a first-round pick for 2026.
