Jacksonville Jaguars Rookie Travis Hunter’s Humble Encounter
Travis Hunter, a rookie with the Jacksonville Jaguars, recently made headlines after a pleasant interaction on a United Airlines flight. He shared that a woman, impressed by his kindness, referred to him as “the best young man.” However, Hunter told Fox News that his actions were simply part of who he is.
In a phone conversation, he described how he and his friends were seated next to Sandy Hawkins. They chatted and ensured she was well taken care of, resembling a mix of thoughtful grandchildren and friends looking out for someone older.
Hawkins shared her experience in a Facebook post, expressing how her flight from Denver was made special by the young man who assisted her. She noted how he placed her bag in the overhead compartment and was very polite. “Everyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandchild,” she said, clearly touched by the encounter.
After their chat, Hawkins mentioned wanting to buy Hunter’s jersey for her sons, much to Hunter’s delight. He called the experience a “blessing” and didn’t expect such attention from the media.
Reflecting on his rise to fame, Hunter acknowledged that humility is vital to his journey. He mentioned, “Humiliation is how I came here, and that’s all I know. Be humble and put it in your work.” This mindset helps him stay grounded as he navigates his early NFL career.
On another note, Hunter expressed excitement about other milestones, such as receiving his first NFL trading card, expected to be unveiled at the NFLPA Rookie Premier. He shared that seeing himself on the card was a thrilling moment for him.
“It’s definitely a blessing because I’m so excited to see myself on my card,” he said, albeit with the understanding that his success relies on his continued hard work.
When asked about the potential value of his rookie card, he pondered, “I don’t know… I still had to do some work.”
