Leanna Reaney, wife of Jaguars cornerback Travis Hunter, recently offered some advice for rookie wives and girlfriends (WAGs) in light of last year’s draft, where their relationship garnered public attention.
“Try not to be on camera too much. If you’re on camera a lot, people might think you crave the spotlight,” she mentioned in a TikTok video.
She also suggested that avoiding the camera entirely isn’t the best approach, as that might lead to awkward moments where a partner may have to tell you to sit down when you’re only trying to stay out of sight.
Reaney has faced her share of criticism, notably from a moment involving former Colorado coach Deion Sanders, who was seen encouraging Hunter to applaud her during her Heisman Trophy announcement in December 2024.
Though she’s taken a break from social media, she remained in the spotlight after Jacksonville picked Hunter as the No. 2 overall choice in the 2025 NFL Draft.
She referenced the challenges of public perception while discussing the pressure that comes with social media scrutiny. “When you’re in a situation like that, it can be tricky,” she said, advising the importance of balancing one’s actions. “Stand up, but not too quickly—otherwise, it seems like you’re too eager to promote yourself.”
Reaney stressed that there are several nuances to navigate, like not stealing a mother’s moment. “Let him get a hug from his mom first; it just seems right,” she said. Yet, trying to orchestrate those moments can feel tricky, as you want to appear supportive without overshadowing family.
She cautioned against crying, as it might come off as overly dramatic, and the opposite—showing no emotion—could imply indifference.
Footwear was another point of advice: “Avoid heels if they hurt, but don’t forgo them altogether, or it could seem like you lack class.” This reflects the double standard many women face in such situations.
“And don’t laugh too much. A laugh might suggest you’re chasing after money. But, of course, a lack of smiling can imply you’re unhappy.” It’s a tightrope walk, really—support your boyfriend, but not too much, or it can backfire.
Hunter found humor in her video, even sharing a laughing emoji in response.
WNBA star Angel Reese also chimed in on the video, expressing her amusement.
Last year, Reaney, Hunter, and his mother were photographed at the draft before the couple tied the knot in May in Tennessee.
Both Hunter and Reaney have stepped back from social media, with Reaney taking a break at the end of 2024.
The couple welcomed their son in August and have chosen to keep much of their relationship private since then.
