US Treasury Considers $1 Coin Featuring Trump

The US Treasury Department is allegedly looking into minting a $1 coin that would celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence next year.

A sketch of the proposed design has been made public, overseen by Brandon Beach’s office, who is the US Treasurer.

On one face of the coin, it showcases a profile reminiscent of the US president’s likeness, similar to what you might find on existing currencies. The “heads” side features the words “freedom,” “In God we trust,” and “1776-2026” at the bottom.

The flip side displays a bust of Trump with his fist clenched before an American flag. Inscriptions like “United States” and “E Pluribus Unum,” meaning “from many, one,” emphasize the unity of the states in the republic.

Interestingly, the coin is engraved with “Battle, Fight, Fight,” a phrase that gained traction among conservatives. It became popular when then-candidate Trump voiced it after a controversial incident in Pennsylvania back in July 2024, shortly after an attempt on his life.

Back in 2020, Congress passed the Circular Collection Coin Redesign Act during Trump’s presidency, allowing the Treasury Secretary to issue a new $1 coin annually starting January 1, 2026, in honor of the anniversary.

Brandon Beach mentioned on X that these early drafts are indeed authentic and reflects on America’s 250th birthday. However, he pointed out that more details would come only after a current government shutdown is resolved.

Although there’s a long-standing law from 1866 that generally prohibits living figures on US currency, Calvin Coolidge’s image made it onto a semi-dollar coin in 1926 during the Sesquicentennial of Independence, alongside George Washington.

In a related note, two Republican lawmakers have also shared plans to introduce legislation that would honor the recently slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk by placing his image on a $500,000 silver coin. The proposal suggests minting 400,000 coins with the phrase “Well done, good and faithful servant” inscribed on them.
