Comedian Trevor Noah in a remarkable video that makes a round on social media claims that quarantine is far better for the black community.
The former host of “Daily Show” at Comedy Central made a comment while talking to Princeton University Professor Ruha Benjamin On the death of President Donald Trump's post-election diversity, equity and inclusive policy.
“If I'm in a room with black people, I already have implicit trust because I know what a particular action, word, and atmosphere means.”
In a podcast discussing the end of DEI's policy, Noah asked whether racial integration was the right solution for the black community during the civil rights struggle.
“I realized I was wondering…Do you think integration is the right move?” Noah asked Benjamin.
“And now I'm separating two things because I know people in America that, of course, there was racism and separation.” No, no, I separate the people who are suppressing them and the people who can't get a bank loan.
Noah then mentioned the success of schooling in Finland.
“Do you think part of the reason Finland can do that is because you've been to Finland?” he asked.
“It's very homogeneous,” replied Benjamin.
“I've been to Finland. Do you know who's in Finland? People from Finland. That's all,” he replied.
“And since they're all Finnish, there's the idea that 'No, we're all heading in the same direction. We all know the meaning of what we do.” When I'm in a room with someone who starts to tie together multiple things, if I'm in a room with black people, we already know what a particular action, word, atmosphere means, and so on. There is an implicit trust, “Noah explained.
“And you are already in the room with another African. Already, even if you are screaming at me, I know the meaning of your cry. Italians say the meaning of Italian cry. Just like you know,” he added. “…I'm taking a lot of it because it's a loaded question, but I'd like to know if you think integration is the right solution on the other side of American civil rights.”
“No, I'm not. I don't think it would actually be controversial,” replied Benjamin.
She expressed her opinion that black people are integrated into the white supremacist system, and that is why services are inadequate and undervalued.
