Truck Transporting 8 Teslas Caught Fire on Los Angeles Highway

Fire Engulfs Semi-Truck Carrying Tesla Vehicles in Los Angeles

A semi-truck transporting eight Tesla electric vehicles caught fire on multiple highways in Los Angeles, causing significant road closures and traffic disruptions on Saturday evening. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) has not yet released further details.

The truck ignited in the southbound lanes of five highways in Sylmar, a suburban area of Los Angeles. Firefighters quickly responded to the blaze, utilizing a substantial team and equipment to manage the situation.

As of Monday morning, LAFD indicated that they had not determined what sparked the fire. Updates may follow if more information becomes available.

Footage from the scene revealed that the truck was carrying at least eight Teslas when the fire broke out. The flames rapidly engulfed the truck and several cars in trailers, creating a challenging scenario for firefighters as they worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby vehicles.

In response to the emergency, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) closed both northbound and southbound lanes on the 5 Freeway. This closure resulted in significant traffic delays throughout the night, directing drivers to reroute via 14 alternative freeways. CHP advised motorists to avoid the affected area if possible.

Fortunately, the driver of the semi managed to escape unharmed, while LAFD crews worked diligently to protect unaffected vehicles and extinguish the flames threatening the Teslas and other vehicles.

LAFD released a statement announcing, “Firefighters are on the scene addressing a fire that involved multiple vehicles in a tractor trailer in Sylmar. Fortunately, the driver and nearby individuals did not sustain injuries.”

The investigation continues, with authorities looking into various factors that could have led to the fire, including the possibility of a battery-related issue in one of the Tesla vehicles.
