A true crime influencer has been charged with wiretapping after police reported that she shared a secret recording of a phone call with the father of Patrick Clancy, who claimed he accidentally answered the call.
Shawna Gramkow, known for her true crime social media accounts with over 50,000 followers, was charged with felony unlawful wiretapping on October 20, based on an incident that occurred on September 4 involving Christopher Clancy, Patrick Clancy’s father, according to police reports obtained by Fox News Digital.
On August 30, Gramkow posted a video on Instagram featuring a phone call from an unknown caller she asserted was Patrick Clancy—this call was made after Lindsay Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, announced Patrick’s phone number during a murder trial.
In the video, she elaborated, “So, you guys voted and Patrick said yes. So, at the trial Kevin Reddington released Patrick’s phone number and one of y’all decided to give him a call. Now on this particular call, Patrick’s dad was still on the line, he was kind of mumbling still on the phone, I guess he didn’t know that the phone was still going,” as noted in the incident report.
According to the police, an adult male’s voice can be heard in the video, though the content wasn’t clearly understandable. When Christopher Clancy informed law enforcement on September 4, he mentioned he thought the voice belonged to him and originated from a phone call he received on August 6.
Christopher Clancy reported that he unintentionally answered a call from an unfamiliar number instead of ignoring it. Allegedly, someone recorded the conversation without his permission, during which he was discussing his oldest son, Brian. Police documented that the conversation was later posted to Gramkow’s Instagram.
“Mr. Clancy recalls while driving in the Town of Scituate sometime around August 6th, 2026 he received a phone call from a telephone number he did not recognize. Instead of declining, he accidentally answered, allowing the unknown caller to record his comments without consent,” police stated.
Although Massachusetts has charged Gramkow with wiretapping, sources in Florida confirmed that she hasn’t been arrested yet.
In a Facebook video, which didn’t directly address the charges, Gramkow maintained that the “allegations are false. And easy to prove.” She also claimed, “And yes I got all the ‘Dirty Deets.'”
These charges appear to arise amid a divergence in the legal strategies of Patrick and Lindsay Clancy, who are involved in separate lawsuits against her medical providers.
During a hearing on Wednesday in Norfolk County, attorney Howard Cooper indicated that Lindsay Clancy is likely to testify in her ex-husband’s lawsuit against her healthcare providers. He stated, “We believe that Lindsay Clancy, once her Fifth Amendment issues are resolved one way or the other, will testify that she told these defendants explicitly that she had homicidal ideation, that she was worried about something awful happening to her kids.”
However, Reddington countered, saying that Lindsay Clancy has never indicated she would testify, nor did she tell any healthcare providers about having harmful thoughts towards her children. Reddington emphasized, “Lindsay Clancy never told any of her healthcare providers that she harbored homicidal ideation toward her children.”
Lindsay Clancy is facing three charges of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of her children, who were found strangled in their home in January 2023. A judge declared a mistrial on September 4, after jurors failed to reach a unanimous verdict, with the final vote at 11-1.
