The incoming Trump administration has a lot of urgent priorities, but revoking the security clearances of Deep State saboteurs should be at the top of the list.
The Department of Justice issued a statement that it is “prepared” to help “process requests for security clearances” for the incoming Trump transition team. That’s nice. But while granting security clearances is a team effort between the Office of Director of National Intelligence, the DOJ and FBI, they should all remember that the president gets the final say. Once he’s inaugurated in January, Trump will have the power to grant or revoke security clearances, regardless of background checks. On day one, Trump must start snatching up security clearances like Walmart shoppers on Black Friday.

Throughout his first term, recall how nefarious Deep State actors hid behind their security clearances (and the authority it implies) to tarnish Trump with nebulous allegations of Russian collusion. Remember former CIA Director John Brennan’s famous quote from Congressional testimony in 2017:
“I encountered and am aware of information and intelligence that revealed contacts and interactions between Russian officials and US persons involved in the Trump campaign that I was concerned about because of known Russian efforts to suborn such individuals. It raised questions in my mind about whether Russia was able to gain the cooperation of those individuals.”
This “damning” assessment launched a firestorm, providing a convenient pretext for the Democratic-media complex to disparage anyone who doubted the Experts. As to what any of the “information,” “intelligence,” “contacts” or “interactions” were, well, too bad — that’s classified. Shut up and believe what you’re told.
Trump rightly pulled Brennan’s security clearance back in 2018, but there are countless more like him throughout the rank-and-file. Trump’s agenda cannot succeed with an army of Deep State saboteurs willing to abuse their positions of trust and authority to damage him in the court of public opinion and sow discord within Republican ranks. Nothing else matters unless he can air them out early. It’s time to get these partisan hacks out of government and back to the cable news greenrooms where they belong.
