Trump Administration Cuts Funding to Maine Universities After State Defies Trans Ban

The Trump administration has ordered the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to suspend federal funds for the University of Maine System (UMS) over its state denials that refused to protect women's sports.

The USDA awarded UMS up to $29.78 million in 2024.
