Trump’s “Trump Card” for Fast-Tracked US Citizenship

A new initiative allows foreign nationals to sign up for a fast pass to US citizenship, dubbed the “Trump Card,” with a price tag of $5 million.

President Donald Trump announced details about the program on Wednesday night, stating, “At $5 million dollars, my trump card is here!” He emphasized the interest from many wanting to access the opportunities in the United States.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick shared Trump’s post, proclaiming that “the wait is over.” He included a link to the Trump Card website for those seeking further information.

The website features gold cards, each adorned with images of playing cards, Trump’s signature, and the notable $5 million price.

Last month, Lutnick mentioned in an Axios event that the site would be live shortly, indicating that the registration process would commence soon, though he appeared somewhat vague about the timeline.

He acknowledged that not everyone might afford the $5 million charge, but expressed that those who can would help contribute toward America’s financial obligations.

In a rather hypothetical discussion, Lutnick posed a question about why people wouldn’t opt for a “Plan B,” suggesting that if crises arise, the expectation would be to come to an American airport and announce, “immigrants are welcome.” He seemed to contrast this with the more troubled situation some face in their home countries.

He assured that applicants for the card would undergo background checks, suggesting that those willing to invest the amount would bring significant business opportunities to the U.S.

In another scenario, he proposed that if 200,000 individuals acquired a card at that price, it would yield a substantial $1 trillion.

Rutnick also mentioned the colossal number of free visas issued annually under the current administration, framing a narrative around the benefits he believes Trump’s plan would provide to the country.

Previously, Trump had alluded to his aspirations of becoming the wealthiest U.S. citizen. His new initiative comes at a time when immigration issues and the challenges surrounding student debt and college expenses are very much in the public eye.

In a prior interview, Lutnick stated that all card applicants would be thoroughly vetted, asserting that they are expected to bring innovation and growth to America.
