Trump and Musk Reunite at Memorial Service
President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, met for the first time since their public disagreement during a memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Glendale, Arizona, on September 21, 2025. Kirk had expressed hope before his tragic death that they might reconcile.
The two were seen shaking hands and engaging in conversation at State Farm Stadium. Both the White House and Musk later shared photographs from their encounter, captioned “For Charlie.”
According to Nicola Hickling, a professional lip reader, Trump approached Musk, asking, “How are you doing?” Then, Trump suggested, “So Elon, I’ve heard you wanted to chat … Let’s try and work out how to get back on track.” The two were later observed embracing, with Trump reportedly saying, “I’ve missed you.”
Previously, Kirk had mentioned during a June podcast with Megyn Kelly that he hoped for a reconciliation between the two. He stated, “I know both these guys … I am hopeful, optimistic and will do everything I possibly can to try and bring this back together.”
This meeting marked the first visible interaction between Trump and Musk since their previously solid partnership fell apart publicly. After the memorial, Trump described the encounter with Musk as “nice.”
