DHS Recruitment Event Sees Unprecedented Turnout
Despite the ongoing criticism of law enforcement, particularly from the left in Los Angeles regarding immigration and customs enforcement, a recent recruitment event by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has shown surprisingly strong interest. The turnout at the DHS 2025 Career Expo held in Chantilly, Virginia last week was impressive, to say the least.
Blaze News has learned this recruitment event was marked by “record-breaking success.” The DHS reported that, even amidst threats and an increase in anti-cop sentiment, participation was robust.
“These figures were possible despite threats, increased assaults, and the recent wave of anti-cop rhetoric from politicians.”
A press release from DHS outlined that the expo primarily aimed to recruit for critical roles in law enforcement, immigration enforcement, border security, and overall national security.
Attendance surpassed 3,000 people, leading to over 1,000 immediate job openings. This turnout was double that of the 2023 Law Enforcement Employment Expo when only 564 interim positions were available.
The event offered attendees a chance to engage with representatives from various DHS law enforcement sectors, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Federal Protective Services, the Secret Service, and the Coast Guard.
In addition to meeting these representatives, applicants were also able to start the interview process and undergo security and background checks.
The DHS noted, “The record-breaking turnout at the event proves that President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of Homeland Security Christie Noem have influenced a new generation of Americans to serve their country in law enforcement.” They emphasized that this comes in the face of increasing assaults on law enforcement personnel and negative rhetoric from politicians. More Americans seem willing to step up and serve their communities.
Moreover, trends indicate that between January and May 2025, applications to the Border Patrol surged compared to previous years, with the U.S. Secret Service seeing a 200% increase in recruits.
The DHS credited Trump and Noem with achieving “excellence across federal agencies” and acknowledged their contribution to this significant recruitment success.
