Trump Announces Future Meeting With Putin in Alaska

Trump and Putin Set to Meet in Alaska

President Donald Trump has announced that he will be meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska next Friday.

In a post, Trump mentioned, “The highly anticipated meeting between me as President of the United States and myself as President of Russia Vladimir Putin will take place on Friday, August 15th, 2025, in the Greater Alaska province.” He emphasized the need to keep track of the details, thanking people for their attention to the situation.

This announcement comes amid reports indicating that Trump and Putin were planning this meeting. CBS News cited “multiple knowledgeable sources” regarding this development.

According to “senior White House officials,” the plans for the meeting are still evolving, and there’s a possibility that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could be involved in some capacity.

Breitbart News has previously shared that Moscow is eager for a face-to-face discussion between Trump and Putin, particularly concerning the ongoing Russian-Ukraine conflict. A key aide from the Kremlin stated that the meeting venue has already been agreed upon.

Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov mentioned in a statement that the location for the Trump-Putin meeting has been finalized after Trump praised a recent speech delivered in Moscow.

Steve Witkov, a special US envoy for the Middle East, had visited Russia earlier, where discussions with Putin were seen as a last attempt to achieve peace in Ukraine.

Witkov’s meeting was described as “a final effort to find peace in Ukraine.” US and Russian negotiators have been in talks throughout the year, but despite numerous discussions in Moscow, substantial progress has yet to be made. This stagnation has notably impacted Trump’s perspective, shifting from initial optimism to feelings of frustration.

Following Witkov’s discussions with Putin, White House reporter Caroline Leavitt conveyed to Breitbart News that Trump would have the opportunity to meet both Putin and Zelensky.

In her statement, Leavitt noted, “Just as President Trump addressed the true society today, Envoy Witkov has made significant progress in his meeting with President Putin. The Russians are eager to engage with President Trump, and the president is open to meeting with both Putin and Zelensky.”
