President-elect Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he has selected former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard to be director of national intelligence.

Gabbard, a former Democratic lawmaker and Army National Guard veteran, was elected after announcing she would leave the Democratic Party in 2022.

Trump initially announced his decision to select Gabbard in a post on Truth Social before announcing his appointment at X.

Gabbard previously ran for president as a Democrat in 2020 but lost, but she made headlines when she attacked then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the 2020 presidential debate, effectively ending her campaign. Ta.
