President Trump has joined the debate over why Sheddur Sanders, son of NFL legend Deon Sanders, dropped out of the first round of the NFL Draft, but he is not satisfied with it.
After a day of discussion about how 32 teams lost such a seemingly highly regarded NFL outlook, Trump posted his views on social media, tearing the NFL owners apart and asking if they were “silly.”
“What’s wrong with the owners of the NFL, are they stupid? Deon Sanders is a great college football player and was even bigger in the NFL,” Trump wrote. “He is also a very good coach who is street-wise and smart. So, quarterback’s son, Chedur, has an incredible gene. Everything is set up for being excellent. He should be “selected” immediately by the team he wants to win.
Sanders spent much of the offseason, which is expected to fall somewhere in the top five. However, after refusing to throw combines and plays in the Senior Bowl, the team relied solely on the interview process and university tapes for evaluation. It is clear that the interview process did not work.
There is a light at the edge of Sanders’ tunnel. The same team with quarterback needs at the top of last night’s draft is picking again tonight.
Perhaps Sanders will be chosen in the next few hours.
