New UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham Begins Partnership with Trump

President Donald Trump and newly appointed UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham seem to be off to a positive start in their working relationship.

On Monday, Trump took to Truth Social to share insights from a “very good conversation” he had with Burnham, mentioning that they plan to meet soon to cover “topics of mutual interest.”

“The Prime Minister has got a big job ahead of him, but he will be able to do it, and of course, the U.S.A. will be there to help!” Trump remarked. He added, “The call was interesting and went very well. I wished Prime Minister Burnham, GOOD LUCK AND GODSPEED!”

Burnham was officially appointed as prime minister during a meeting with King Charles III on Monday, marking him as the seventh person to assume the role in just over a decade.

His Majesty received the Rt. Hon. Andrew Burnham MP and asked him to form a new Administration. Burnham accepted the King’s offer and was appointed as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.

In his remarks, Burnham, who identifies as a socialist, mentioned his plan to unveil a 10-year strategy for the UK by the year’s end. He expressed hope that this would be a significant period for the nation.

Amid discussions regarding oil and gas policies, Labour Party Deputy Leader Lucy Powell indicated that Burnham is likely to adopt a “more pragmatic approach.” However, he is expected to continue banning new oil and gas exploration licenses while honoring the existing ones.

Trump, on the other hand, was optimistic about the North Sea oil situation. He noted in a Sunday Truth Social post that Burnham has expressed intentions to “be opening up, all the way.”

“It is one of the Greatest Sources of quality Oil on Earth, has hundreds of years of Capacity left, with much not even found yet, and will make the United Kingdom, from a Poverty Stricken Disaster, to one of the Richest Countries anywhere in the World!” Trump stated.

Additionally, he mentioned that their conversation also covered military alliances and efforts to clear the Strait of Hormuz of mines.

Burnham’s predecessor, Keir Starmer, stepped down in June after less than two years in office. His tenure was marked by disagreements with Trump, particularly over the UK’s engagement with the Iranian conflict and the status of the Strait of Hormuz.
