Trump campaign urges Supreme Court ‘rejection’ of Colorado ballot ban

Former President Trump's campaign is asking the Supreme Court to overturn a Colorado ruling last month that excluded the former president from the 2024 presidential election.

Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Chan said Wednesday that the Colorado Supreme Court and the plaintiffs would “disenfranchise all American voters” by removing the former president from the ballot under the 14th Amendment. I am doing my best for this,” he said.

“Democrats are persistently violating the constitutional right of American voters to vote for the candidate of their choice. This is un-American, unconstitutional election interference, and unacceptable,” Chung said. said in a statement. “We unequivocally and summarily reject the Colorado Supreme Court’s unjust ruling and urge us to hold a free and fair election this November.”

Chan's comments came a day after President Trump asked the Supreme Court to overturn a Colorado ruling that excluded him from the 2024 Republican primary ballot.

President Trump's appeal of the Colorado ruling will likely lead to a final battle in the Supreme Court. If the Supreme Court upholds Colorado's decision to remove President Trump from their ballots, more states could remove the former president from their own ballots.

If the Supreme Court agrees to take the case, Colorado's decision would be put on hold until the justices rule on the merits. But the Supreme Court is unlikely to resolve Trump's appeal by Friday, the deadline to finalize Colorado's presidential primary vote. This means Trump is likely to be on the state's primary ballot anyway.

Maine Secretary of State Shena Bellows also removed Trump from the state's ballot in a decision last week, but Trump has already appealed in state court. Similar lawsuits have been filed in other states, including Michigan and Minnesota, which have ruled in favor of keeping Trump on the 2024 ballot.
