Trump Calls for Iran Negotiations Amid Military Buildup

President Donald Trump issued a call on Wednesday for Iran to engage in negotiations, coinciding with the deployment of a significant military fleet, including the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, to the region. This move, according to Trump, serves as a direct warning to the Iranian regime.

He mentioned that a significant attack against Iranian leader Khamenei might become necessary as their government has yet to reach any agreement with the U.S. The President described this military deployment as a “massive armada” that is advancing swiftly and purposefully towards Iran, emphasizing that it is even larger than the fleet previously sent to Venezuela.

“Like Venezuela, it stands ready to fulfill its mission, potentially with overwhelming force if called for,” Trump remarked on Truth Social. He expressed hope that Iran would soon come to the table to negotiate a fair deal that ensures no nuclear weapons, stating, “Time is of the essence!” Trump recounted previous interactions with Iran, highlighting the failure to reach a deal and the severe consequences that followed, warning that any future attack could be even more devastating.

While Trump indicated earlier in the week that Iran seemed open to negotiations amidst the U.S. military buildup, he noted in an Axios interview that the Iranian government has reportedly reached out multiple times, expressing a desire for talks. “They want a deal. I know that. They have called me many times,” he stated.

As the U.S. military presence escalates, unrest in Iran grows following protests that began late last year. A potential agreement would require Iran to comply with stringent conditions, including the removal of enriched uranium and limiting its long-range missile stockpiles—terms Iranian leaders have not yet accepted.

Current reports indicate that the death toll from the protests has reached 5,848, with many others still under investigation. In response to ongoing tensions, Khamenei has reportedly taken refuge in a heavily fortified underground location.

This situation is still developing, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
