Trump Criticizes Fox News Polls
The former president has expressed his dissatisfaction with what he describes as biased polling from Fox News, calling it a “Bent Fox News poll” that has repeatedly missed the mark. His frustrations were voiced on Truth Social, where he claimed, “The crooked Fox News polls have been wrong for years.” He believes the network’s polling consistently underrepresents his support. “MAGA hates Fox News, despite their great anchors,” he added.
Trump has a history of criticizing Fox News for their elections coverage. For instance, during the 2020 election, the network’s predictions suggested he would lose crucial states. They indicated he would fall short in Michigan, where he actually lost by a narrower margin than anticipated. Similarly, Fox projected a significant loss in Arizona, yet the final vote tally reflected a much closer race. In North Carolina, they predicted a loss, but he won, and in Ohio, he secured a much larger victory than their polling suggested.
Though Trump indicates some improvement in Fox’s polling for 2024, he mentions a perceived absence of polling close to the election date.
Continuing his critique, Trump noted that a recent Fox poll showed over 50% approval for his handling of the border, stating, “the border is miraculously perfect.” He expressed disdain for what he termed “fake voters,” reiterating his belief that Fox allows unreliable polling to persist.
In the latest Fox News poll, Trump’s overall approval rating is observed at 46%, with 54% disapproving. He has consistently struggled to surpass 50% approval in his second term. Specifically regarding border security, he received 53% approval, while immigration and foreign policy ratings reflected more disappointment, with him trailing by eight and fifteen points, respectively. Economic approval showed an even wider gap.
Interestingly, the polling indicated that Kamala Harris outperformed Trump, with a slight edge of 49% to 51%. Trump’s numbers were reported as 45% to 55% disapproval.
Whether these numbers hold any credibility remains a question. Trump insists that many news networks, including Fox, should reconsider their polling methods, suggesting a lack of trust in the current estimates.
