Trump Discusses Military Campaign Against Iran
During a recent interview on “The Five,” President Donald Trump asserted that his base, known as Make America Great Again (MAGA), appreciates his assertive military actions against Iran.
“MAGA supports the idea that someone isn’t letting a nuclear threat loom over them,” Trump stated.
He went on to label those who might endorse giving Iran nuclear capabilities as “weak, stupid, or low IQ,” contrasting them with his supporters, whom he described as savvy.
Trump cited a recent NBC News poll indicating that about 90% of MAGA-aligned Republicans back the military action, with only 5% opposing it.
Fox News host Greg Gutfeld brought up a concern regarding MAGA voter expectations. He questioned how the president planned to engage voters who might have initially supported him under the belief that there wouldn’t be a war.
“What do you say to those who are now faced with this contradiction?” Gutfeld pressed.
Trump’s response emphasized the dangers of nuclear weapons in the hands of what he termed “mad men” and “mad ideologies.”
He insisted that the attack on Iran was essential to showcase U.S. military strength and to maintain global stability.
“To keep our country great, I’m taking what I’d call a short detour. We’ll show everyone that our military is unmatched,” he asserted.
The NBC poll, analyzed by CNN, revealed that 54% of Republicans not aligned with MAGA also support military action against Iran, highlighting differing perceptions within the Republican Party regarding Trump’s military approach.
In his reflection, Trump stated, “MAGA basically encompasses the entire Republican Party. They seek honesty,” adding that he frequently sees favorable outcomes for candidates he supports.
He reiterated that his foreign policy is well-received among MAGA supporters, affirming that his popularity is at an all-time high.
“When I heard about a 100 percent approval rating, I thought, ‘I’ve never seen a poll like this. It’s unbelievable,’” he remarked.
“The reason behind this is simple: I’m focused on protecting our nation from a lunatic with nuclear ambitions.”
