Trump considers new actions against Iran following failed peace negotiations

Trump Considers Military Action Against Iran Amid Failed Talks

President Donald Trump is reportedly weighing a new military response to Iran following unsuccessful peace negotiations with the Iranian government. As the U.S. prepares to impose restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz, these considerations come into sharper focus.

According to information shared with The Wall Street Journal, Trump is looking into the possibility of a limited military strike against Iran. Additionally, there’s discussion about a potential extensive bombing campaign aimed at Iranian infrastructure. However, sources suggest that such an extensive action is less likely.

In a recent exchange with Fox News, Trump implied he might target Iranian infrastructure, stating, “I don’t want to do that, but their water, their desalination facilities, their power plants are very vulnerable.”

While the specifics of Trump’s plans remain under wraps, the White House press secretary also addressed the situation. The lockdown on maritime traffic is set to begin at 10 a.m. ET. She noted, “The president has already ordered a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz to end Iranian blackmail and is wisely keeping all additional options on the table.” She cautioned that anyone claiming to know the president’s next move is simply speculating.

In a statement on Sunday, U.S. Central Command confirmed that the military would halt “all maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports.” Officials indicated that the blockade would apply uniformly to all nations, irrespective of their ships’ origins.

Trump asserted, “Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the world’s greatest navy, will begin the process of blockading all ships attempting to enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz.”
