Trump Criticizes MSNBC Host Over Tariff Remarks
President Donald Trump has taken a swing at an MSNBC host, accusing her of lacking intelligence regarding his tariff strategies. He suggested that networks like hers act as “mouthpieces” for the Democrats and ought to face taxation and penalties.
Stephanie Ruhle, the host of “11th Hour,” commented on Trump’s trade policies, stating that his ongoing trade war could backfire. This came after he announced what he deemed a “great deal” with Britain, though he acknowledged that the final details were still pending.
During her appearance on “Morning Joe,” Ruhle remarked, “Trump seems cornered by his own decisions and he knows it.” She pointed to dwindling cargo shipments, saying, “If he doesn’t adjust his approach soon, consumers will feel the impact—stores, communities, everyone will be affected.”
In response, Trump criticized her on social media, branded her as nervous and tired, and dismissed her insights as lies about the tariffs. He stated, “I just saw the exhausted, very nervous Stephanie Ruhle being dishonest.” He suggested that, while few may know her, he does—implying she lacks the requisite grasp of the issues at hand.
According to Trump, the recent trade agreement with the UK was beneficial, offering a 10% tariff while reducing tariffs on certain imports like cars and metals. He continued, “Smart individuals see the value in tariffs; unfortunately, Stephanie isn’t one of them.” He also claimed that MSNBC is now the voice of the Democrats, asserting they should be treated as political advocates subject to appropriate penalties.
Currently, Trump is engaged in discussions with various countries regarding his tariff measures. Supporters of the tariffs argue that they not only bolster federal revenue but also promote domestic manufacturing. Meanwhile, some economists criticize them for disrupting established businesses and straining international relationships.
