Trump Criticizes Judge Boasberg on Social Media

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social Sunday night to express his discontent with federal judge James Boasberg. He accused Boasberg of bias against the Republican Party and suggested that he should be disqualified from handling cases involving the party.

In his post, Trump described Boasberg as “an eccentric, mean, twisted, and completely out of control judge who suffers from the highest level of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) and has been ‘stalking’ me and others for years.” He further asserted that Boasberg displayed “openly, flagrant and extreme partisan bias and contempt” for the Republican Party.

“To maintain the integrity of the judiciary, he should be removed from all cases involving our country and face serious disciplinary action, just like many other corrupt judges that we have had to endure!” Trump stated.

The president also criticized a decision Boasberg made involving Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, arguing that Boasberg’s handling of the case was more political than legal.

Boasberg serves as the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.

In the past, the White House has expressed support for the impeachment of judges whom they feel are acting out of line. After Boasberg’s recent ruling regarding subpoenas issued to the Federal Reserve, Trump highlighted that the court found the subpoenas were not issued for a legitimate purpose but rather to harass Powell.

The court’s opinion stated, “There is abundant evidence that the primary (if not the only) purpose of the subpoenas was to harass and pressure Mr. Powell into yielding to the President or resigning to make way for the Fed Chairman.” Ultimately, the court decided to quash the subpoenas, concluding that there wasn’t enough evidence of wrongdoing by Powell beyond displeasing Trump.
