Donald Trump has proposed two new national holidays to commemorate his victories in World War I and World War II.
“We’ve won two World Wars, yet we never really celebrated those victories. But everyone else does! Around the globe, allies are honoring their World War II triumphs,” Trump remarked.
We won two world wars, yet we never really celebrated—everyone else seems to! Other countries are acknowledging their WWII victory. The United States is the only nation where this isn’t celebrated. Without us, the outcome would have been different. So, I’m declaring national holidays to commemorate both World War I, marked on November 11, 1918, and World War II, recognized on May 8, 1945. On these two significant dates, we won’t shut down the country. There are limited days left in the year. We worked then, and we work now! More documentation is coming. Let’s make America great again!
For these holidays to gain official status, they will need Congressional approval.
Recognizing a new federal holiday requires an act of Congress. For now, the declaration stands as a symbolic gesture from the White House. Details on any planned commemorations or educational initiatives related to these new holidays have not been shared.
