Trump Deems Iran Agreement Invalid After Airstrikes

ANKARA, Turkey – President Trump announced on Wednesday that he no longer considers the memorandum of understanding with Iran to be valid, following his orders for overnight airstrikes targeting 80 sites in retaliation for Iranian assaults on commercial vessels.

“I don’t like them at all. Frankly, we wasted a lot of time,” Trump said, speaking publicly for the first time since the strikes. “I think we should just do our jobs.”

When asked if the interim agreement signed on June 17 was effectively dead, he replied, “I think it’s over for me. I don’t want anything to do with them anymore. They’re scum.”

“These are evil, violent people… As far as I’m concerned, it’s over,” Trump continued. “Dealing with them is just a waste of time. They’re liars, cheaters, sick people.”

Trump added, “Honestly, I don’t want to waste any more time with them. I’ll let our great negotiators continue if they wish, but I doubt it.”

Iran’s chief negotiator, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, responded defiantly, stating that “the era of bullying and blackmail is over. It will lead nowhere. We will not give in.”

The 14-point memorandum aimed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days while negotiating the final status of Iran’s nuclear program, a central objective for Trump.

Tensions intensified after Iran’s attacks on three commercial vessels earlier this week, following its insistence that all ships adhere to a route approved by Iran rather than an alternative favored by the United States.

Previously, there had been similar flare-ups, but Trump’s reaction this time was notably more pointed, particularly as he referred to Iran’s alleged attempts on his life. “They’re trying to remove me as the leader of the United States. I’m on every list,” he said.

“This morning, I realized I’m on all of their lists. So far, I’ve been a bit lucky. But that probably won’t last,” Trump noted.

He emphasized, “These are evil, sick individuals, and we need to eradicate their cancer.”

Iran appears to be trying to exert greater control over international shipping, including imposing financial fees, which represents a significant post-war interest in the waterway vital for transporting a substantial portion of global oil exports.
