Former President Donald Trump will aim to win the Nevada caucuses after former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-South Carolina) will not participate in the caucuses next month.
Shortly after Trump won the New Hampshire Republican primary and announced that Haley, his only remaining rival in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, would continue campaigning, Trump posted on Truth Social. He promoted the next Nevada delegate.
“We just beat Nevada!” he wrote.
as new york times I got it., “Although 2021 law requires Nevada to hold a state-sponsored presidential primary, the state Republican Party chose to hold its own caucus two days later.” Only caucus results will be used for allocation. ”
Haley has chosen to participate in the state's primary vote and will not participate in the Feb. 8 caucuses, which will include all delegates.
Former 2024 candidates like Vivek Ramaswamy and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) were scheduled to participate in the caucuses, CBS News previously reported. documentedHowever, both men withdrew from the election and supported Trump. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, he will secure the state's 26 delegates, as he is the only active candidate vying for a delegate seat in Nevada.
Notably, Haley omitted Nevada from her defeat speech Tuesday night and said the Feb. 24 South Carolina primary was the next nomination contest.
“This race isn't over yet. There are still dozens of states left, but next up is my favorite state, South Carolina,” she said after declaring Tuesday was a “great night.”
Trump quickly intervened to remind Haley that she had already lost the Silver State.
“She just lost Nevada. Next up is Nevada!” he I have written.
During her victory speech, President Trump criticized Haley's defeat speech as “bullshit” on national television, according to Breitbart News. I got it..
