Trump Demands Putin ‘Make a Deal’ on Ukrainian War or Face Penalties

President Donald Trump has encouraged Russian President Vladimir Putin to strike a “deal” and end the war in Ukraine or face economic sanctions from the United States.

President Trump vowed on the campaign trail to end the war in Ukraine after President Joe Biden appeared to be only fomenting the war with arms and economic aid.

After the Biden administration took office, Russia invaded Ukraine. Before the invasion, Russia had expressed concern that the regime was inviting Ukraine to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a political and military alliance of countries in Russia's immediate vicinity. He has repeatedly insisted that NATO expansion into Ukraine is a red line that must not be crossed.
