Trump Critiques Alyssa Farrah Griffin Over MAGA Hat Promise
Former President Donald Trump recently took aim at “The View” co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin, accusing her of joking about a promise she made regarding wearing a MAGA hat if Israeli hostages were released. This claim came during a discussion with a reporter who inquired about her commitment from the previous year. Trump pointed out that Griffin had two opportunities to follow through on her promise but did not do so.
He also mentioned Griffin, who resigned from her role as White House communications director in December 2020, had written him a “beautiful” letter when she left, a point she has previously disputed. “She used to work for me,” Trump remarked, adding, “She was hired by ‘The View’ for a few bucks, but quickly shifted her stance. Honestly, I never thought she could manage it. It just highlights what a farce ‘The View’ is. This woman wrote me a letter saying I was the best president of our lifetime.”
Trump further commented, “I don’t see that as much of a compliment since she’s not that old. But I prefer my recent meetings. I believe I met the greatest president yet, and yes, that includes Washington and Lincoln. I think she’s joking.” Griffin, known for her critical stance toward Trump when she became a permanent co-host in 2022, had previously stated she would wear the iconic red hat if he managed to bring back the hostages.
“I promised I wouldn’t overstate anything, and I mean that. If he does a good thing and rescues an Israeli hostage, I’ll wear a MAGA hat on the show for a day and thank him for it,” Griffin had said.
Despite Trump reminding Griffin of her previous statement on social media lately, she hadn’t yet worn the hat or mentioned her pledge in her recent appearances on the show. However, she did commend Trump for successfully negotiating the return of 20 surviving Israeli hostages and facilitating a ceasefire in the Gaza conflict.
“Whether you appreciate Trump or not, I think he’s the one. I also believe Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner played significant roles in this deal,” Griffin noted, referencing the negotiations involved. “I never thought I’d negotiate with terrorists, but sometimes you have to engage with the most difficult parties to find peace. I pray this accord holds.”
