Trump Discusses Assassination Threats and Iran Contingency Plan
President Donald Trump has revealed that he is prepared for the possibility of being targeted by Iran, stating he has a plan which involves a severe response. “They’re at a level we’ve never seen before,” he told the New York Post recently.
According to reports, he has directed his administration to launch aggressive airstrikes against Iran should he be assassinated. Trump mentioned that Iran has been gunning for him “for a long time” and added, “I hope you miss me.”
These comments followed new intelligence from Israel about a purported plot by Iran to kill Trump. However, details regarding this alleged conspiracy were not thoroughly confirmed by U.S. sources. In fact, it appears that the U.S. was unaware of the alleged threats until they were alerted by Israeli intelligence.
In the same interview with the New York Post, Trump dismissed the conspiracy theories, asserting, “Israel came up with nothing. No, no,” while acknowledging that he has long been Iran’s primary target.
Reportedly, during the burial procession of Iranian leader Khamenei, threats against Trump became apparent, with a banner proclaiming “We will kill Trump.” In a speech in 2021, Khamenei seemed to suggest retribution against Trump for the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani, demanding justice for his death.
Trump has also made it clear that he will retaliate against Iran if they persist in their provocations in the Strait of Hormuz. Some advisers apparently referred to the response plan as “Operation B**** Slap.”
A source close to the White House indicated that while Trump wishes to resolve the situation, he won’t stand idly by if Iran continues its aggression toward shipping in the region. Following the NATO summit in Turkey, Trump claimed that the U.S. would quickly prevail in a conflict with Iran.
On a recent Friday, he announced that any ceasefire with Iran had come to an end and characterized ongoing negotiations as critical. Reports indicated that the U.S. had conducted airstrikes on numerous Iranian military positions, prompting threats of retaliation from Iran.
