Trump DOJ invokes state secrets in Tren de Aragua deportation case

Attorney General Pam Bondy approved the Trump administration's claims of state secrets regarding details of Tren de Aragua's deportation flight on Monday.

Bondi has issued a court filed Monday night referring to requests from Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Homeland Security Second. Kristi Noem argues that last week the Tren de Aragua gang members were deported by plane, and when, and specific details are covered by the state's secret privileges and that they do not need to be provided to the court.

“The Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security each submitted declarations claiming formal claims of the state's secret privilege in relation to the disclosure of information sought on March 18, 2025,” Bondy wrote to the court.

“These declarations reflect research and well-supported conclusions that information disclosure, former party and even cameras will do a great deal of harm to US diplomatic relations and national security interests,” she added.
