On Tuesday, President Trump criticized the Supreme Court for its decision to block measures intended to protect mail-in ballots, which were a response to a directive he gave to the U.S. Postal Service.
He expressed his discontent on Truth Social, calling the court’s ruling a “bad decision” that was announced just the day before:
Another poor ruling from the Supreme Court of the United States, one that took an inordinate amount of time to deliver, and then they partly blamed the delay on a lack of time to find a solution to our utterly CORRUPT and chaotic Mail-In voting “disaster.” It’s embarrassing and makes us look like the only country struggling with such a nation-destroying SCAM.
The Postal Service had intended to put in place various safeguards, such as labeling ballot envelopes, assigning specific barcodes for each voter, and ensuring they could be scanned using advanced processing equipment.

Justice Samuel Alito penned the dissenting opinion, with Justice Clarence Thomas being the only other justice to agree with him. Alito pointed out that some plaintiffs didn’t have standing, while others were chasing a claim that the Court had previously deemed a “Hail Mary pass” that tends to fail.
He added, “The Postal Service has broad authority to regulate the mail.”
Justice Brett Kavanaugh mentioned that “there’s a decent chance that the final rule falls within the Postal Service’s statutory authority,” but he also noted that state and local election officials wouldn’t have enough time to implement the rule adequately before the elections.
In his response, Trump praised both Alito and Thomas:
Justices Alito and Thomas, both legends, strongly opposed this terrible, highly political decision. It’s a significant setback for Republicans and America as a whole; it makes it far too easy for the Radical Left “Dumocrats” to cheat with Mail-In ballots. They now have a clear path to do so! The Supreme Court has truly let our country down!
He further remarked that the justices seem to fear showing “courage” because of radical left pressures.
“Some Justices are terrified of these extreme Democrats and can’t seem to muster the courage that’s necessary to protect our America,” he wrote.
Trump went on to criticize the court for recent rulings, including its decisions regarding tariffs and birthright citizenship:
Their terrible decision on tariffs will cost the U.S.A. for years, amounting to trillions. They didn’t even clarify that “money paid doesn’t have to be returned,” significantly benefiting parties that despise our country and have been exploiting it for years, costing us billions immediately. The Supreme Court’s stance on birthright citizenship is a complete disaster and has already led to widespread corruption regarding “citizenship” in our country. The damage is immeasurable, and they know it, just like everyone else. The Court’s failure to act correctly for our nation will be remembered unfavorably in history. This Supreme Court is being pushed around by the Radical Left into making decisions that have set America back at least a century.
He mentioned that the justices he appointed are now a “shadow of their former selves” and no longer reflect the values he believed they represented when he nominated them, including Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, and Neil Gorsuch.
“This Court will be remembered for making some of the most harmful decisions in our nation’s history,” he said.
“Writing this criticism of the Supreme Court isn’t easy for me—it could have repercussions for years to come—but I feel it’s my duty as President to speak up for the America we cherish,” he added.
