Trump’s Endorsements Ahead of Primaries
As the primaries approach on Tuesday, President Trump has made several endorsements for various races, including gubernatorial, Congressional, and Senate contests in states like California, Iowa, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, and South Dakota.
One notable endorsement is for Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa), who is vying to be the next governor of Iowa. Trump expressed confidence in Feenstra, stating, “As Governor-elect, Randy will continue to work tirelessly to grow our economy, cut taxes and regulations, promote MADE IN THE USA, unlock America’s energy advantage, and defend our great farmers and ranchers.” He went on to mention numerous priorities, including securing borders and promoting election integrity.
In California, Trump has thrown his support behind Steve Hilton in the gubernatorial race. California’s political landscape is heavily dominated by Democrats, and Trump and other Republicans frequently criticize the state’s leadership. Trump remarked on current governor Gavin Newsom, saying he’s a “really great guy” who has overseen a decline in the state. He described the current state of affairs in California as “horrible,” with rising crime and high taxes.
Further expressing his belief in Hilton’s capabilities, Trump stated, “Steve will be able to turn things around before it’s too late. As president, I will help him do that!” His optimistic take indicates a belief that Hilton could improve the situation in California significantly.
Trump also endorsed Rep. James Gallagher, who is campaigning for Congress, as well as San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond, who aims to secure a House seat. Other California candidates receiving endorsements from Trump include Reps. Tom McClintock, Jay Obanolte, Vince Fung, and former Stockton Mayor Kevin Lincoln, who is running for a newly redistricted Congressional District.
Additionally, Congressman Brian Mast (R-Fla.) joined the list of those endorsed. Trump also supported several candidates in New Jersey and Montana, including Reps. Tom Keene Jr., Jeff Van Drew, Chris Smith, and Troy Downing, along with U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa) in her Senate bid.
Moreover, Trump endorsed Aaron Flynt, who is seeking a position in Montana’s state legislature, as well as South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley and former police officer Greg Cunningham from New Mexico.
Previously, Trump voiced support for Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) and has celebrated the success of candidates he backed in earlier Republican primaries and runoff elections.
